July 4th Weekend

 Fourth Of July Weekend Festivities!

Here in Destin, we do not underestimate the long weekend for the July fourth celebration.  You could choose any beach to relax on over here and still see all the firework shows from Destin because of the height of the fireworks themselves.

We kick off the weekend on Saturday, July 3rd at the Destin commons and we host what we call “Smoke on the Coast" BBQ and Fireworks Festival. This event begins at 5pm, just in time for dinner, and goes until 10 o’clock.

There is live music and entertainment while the local BBQ spots and participating restaurants give $1 samples of their food so they can win the people’s choice award and raise money for local charities through Coins for a Cause. After getting all fat and happy you can sit down and enjoy the magnificent Destin Commons fireworks that will begin at 9:30 and last about 12 minutes. Let me tell you folks this is an event you don’t want to miss. 

As far as July 4th itself, you can spend the day out at Crab Island floating your worries away on a pontoon or just set up camp on the beach for the day until the sun goes down. There is also, usually, a small flight show that entertains all of us out on Crab island and Holiday Isle with red, white, and blue themed planes, smoke, and fun flight patterns.
After sunset the city of Destin offers live music at the HarborWalk Village starting at 7pm, an amazing firework show at 8:30, and finishes off with a spectacular fire spinning show by the talented Autumn Lyfe at 9pm.
